NAM HONORED WITH PINNACLE AWARD. Northwest Assistance Ministries received the Pinnacle Award at the Better Business Bureau Awards for Excellence luncheon. The BBB Awards for Excellence recognizes businesses and nonprofits for its achievements and commitment to overall excellence and quality in the workplace.
The Pinnacle Award is the BBB’s highest honor. Proceeds from the event help fund the BBB Education Foundation, which educates consumers about scams and fraudulent business practices in the Greater Houston area.

TOP VOLUME BUYER AT CY-FAIR ISD LIVESTOCK SHOW & SALE RECOGNIZED BY BOARD. Mike Jarrar of Jarrar & Company Inc. was recognized by the Cy-Fair ISD board of trustees as the Top Volume Buyer at the 2010 Cy-Fair ISD Livestock Show & Sale,during its regularly scheduled meeting on June 13.
In honor of Jarrar’s support of Future Farmers of America students within the district, David Reynolds, coordinator of technology education and agricultural science, presented him with the fourth annual Top Volume Buyer Buckle. The buckle is awarded each year to honor the Top Volume Buyer.
Jarrar invested $93,200 in student projects at the show—the largest contribution by any one buyer this year—increasing his total investments to more than $500,000 since 2003.
The Cy-Fair community gave a combined total of $633,254 at the Premium Sale, Freezer Sale and in donations to students.

BF ADAM TOURNAMENT HAS RECORD BREAKING YEAR. The 21st Annual B.F. Adam Golf Classic was a tremendous fundraising success, generating an all-time record of more than $111,000 that will go toward scholarships for Cypress-Fairbanks ISD graduates.
The tournament was held at BlackHorse Golf Club on May 20, the day of the 40th anniversary of the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation. A total of 288 golfers and more than 50 volunteers participated in the event.
“Our goal was to make sure that the tournament brought in more funding than ever before for student scholarships,” said Marie Holmes, executive director of the CFEF. “We succeeded with a record-breaking year.”
The golf tournament has always garnered great support from the community, raising $1.4 million for student scholarships since its inception.

CY-FAIR ISD PARTNERS IN EDUCATION OFFICE RECOGNIZES AWARD WINNERS. The Cy-Fair ISD Partners in Education office recognized district and state volunteer award winners during the Volunteers in Public Schools general meeting. Lynette Craig and Marilyn Meyers were honored on behalf of Cypress Bible Church for winning the Community Partnership – Academic Impact Award for their partnership with Lamkin Elementary School.
Dawn Siefert was honored on behalf of the Willbern PTO, which won the Community Partnership – Health Award for its partnership with Willbern Elementary School.
Kevin Hillendahl and Dawn Bordovsky were honored on behalf of TexasOne Community Credit Union for winning the Business Partnership – Career Education Award for its partnership with Holbrook Elementary School.
Although not represented at the general meeting, Dynegy was recognized for winning the Community Partnership – STEM Award for its partnership with Lieder Elementary School.
The state gold award winners were honored at the Texas Association of Partners in Education Awards Banquet in Austin.
The VIPS General Meeting also provided a platform to honor the VIPS Targeting Achievement Globally Team, a group of global volunteers who go onto campuses designated by the school district to work alongside district helping teachers by tutoring students in science.
