The Houston Ballet’s largest fundraiser and holiday shopping extravaganza is a must for those with a passion to shop. The Nutcracker Market will feature 300 merchants offering unique items for everyone, including home décor, food, clothing, toys, toiletries, novelties, ornaments, pottery, pewter and accessories.

Proceeds from each admission and special event ticket that you purchase, plus 10 percent of all the merchandise you buy, goes back to Houston Ballet Foundation, its academy and scholarship programs.

“Christmas Around the World” is the theme this year. Enjoy entertainment on various stages as well as strolling entertainment. Over 150 shops decorated with red bows, twinkling lights and ropes of garland will welcome visitors to another festive season of unique shopping for Christmas. Photos with Santa will be available at Santa’s Workshop located next to Puffabelly’s Restaurant on Main at the railroad tracks. The Be An Angel Christmas train will be making stops around the town to the delight of the young and old alike. On Saturdays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., shoppers can enjoy a cup of cocoa and the little ones can write letters to Santa!

The second annual Cookie Walk benefiting Spring Preservation League is Dec. 3. The Old Town Spring Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held just after sundown on Nov. 12 with musical guest Tiffany Rene.

This 43rd annual event lets you enjoy a traditional British fete without making the trip across the Atlantic. Enjoy the Houston Highlander Pipe Band and other entertainment, and also the smell of home-baked scones and biscuits and other food items. Other gifts include gourmet dog biscuits and handmade dog beds, as well as linens and cards, T-shirts and sweets. New this year is the Apple Core-ner where apple-related gifts can be purchased. Proceeds go to various charities.
